The Story (...the one we're stickin' to)

Billy G. Camp grew up in South Carolina back when Gram Parsons was out in L.A. mixing Country music with Rock n’ Roll. After getting hooked on Gram’s sound in the mid-80’s, Billy picked up the bass guitar and dove head-first into the music. He played in several South Carolina-based rock bands; including one that received regional attention in the early-90’s.

By the late 90's, Billy had become more interested in polishing up his songwriting skills. He bought a pawn-shop guitar and began searching for his wrong-eyed muse.

In 2004, Billy relocated to Boise, ID and soon began jamming with several musicians from the city's eclectic music scene. Upon finding the right group of players, he assembled the Billy G. Camp Band.

Featuring: Jason Greisa, a psychedelic-bluegrasser from the Detroit punk scene; Brandon Fiquette, a hotshot guitarist from Robie Creek, ID; Mark Orton, drummer/percussionist from Lewiston, ID; and Angie Stevens, a homegrown fiddler also from Lewiston, ID; this band has proven to be a glorious experiment in diversity.

In the summer of 2005, Billy booked a series of sessions at the Audio Lab Recording Studio in Boise. The result was the debut CD entitled: "Don't Stop the Carnival". This CD is an eleven song set of high-energy Alt. Country-Folkadelica. Drawing from influences as diverse as: Gram Parsons, John Prine, Allman Brothers Band, John Hiatt, and Tom Waits; Billy and his band take you on a joyride through a sonic landscape of Country-Cool and Neo-Folk that has been injected with rock n’ roll and good vibrations. The result is a catchy, feel-good collection of songs that grow on you like kudzu.

"Don't Stop the Carnival" is as groovy and eclectic as the band itself; however, it is only a snapshot of where the band was. The Billy G. Camp Band has since grown and expanded its horizons even farther; constantly pushing creative boundaries... kinda like Gram Parsons used to do.
